Cybils Awards 2021: The End

It seems hard to believe, but it’s time to turn the page on the 2021 Cybils Awards for children’s and young adult literature. As a Round One Panelist in the Young Adult Fiction category, I had the absolute pleasure of reading eighty-two amazing nominees and helping narrow them down to seven finalists.

It wasn’t easy. I can’t even imagine choosing just one of them. But somehow, that’s exactly what the great team of Round Two Judges have done.

Be sure to head over to the Cybils’s site for a complete list of winners—and not just in the Young Adult categories. Board Books. Middle Grade Speculative Fiction. High School Non-Fiction. Poetry. There’s something for every reader.

Congratulations to all of the winners and nominees! After being part of this process for months, I can safely say kidlit and YA have never been in better literary hands.

And of course, to you, happy reading!

You have been busy, but such a fun kind of busy. I remember fondly the summer I “had” to fulfill a requirement by taking a course in Children’s Literature and another in Children’s Theatre. What a great semester that was!

    1. One of my favorite courses ever was in children’s literature. What could be better than reading kidlit and talking about it? And children’s theatre! That’s bliss.

Very true — “reading kidlit and talking about it” sounds very cool. And I’m off to check out the award list!
