Final Week: Cybils Awards 2021 Nominations

Nominations for the 2021 Cybils Awards are in full swing, and I’m thrilled that so many of you have been putting forth your nominations. However, there are still a ton of great books that haven’t been nominated yet, and this is the final week to get your picks in. It’s quick, easy, and absolutely painless to make an account and celebrate your favorite kidlit and YA from this past year.

Nominations officially close October 15, 2021.

And if you’re an author or publisher looking to nominate your own work? Perfect! You’ll just have to wait until after public nominations close.

Just as a refresher: the Cybils is an annual children’s and young adult book award presented by an amazing group of librarians, teachers, bloggers, and other bookish experts.

The best part? Absolutely anyone can nominate a book for consideration, so long as it was published in the U.S. or Canada between October 16, 2020 and October 15, 2021. If you have a personal favorite book from this past year that hasn’t been getting the kind of attention you think it deserves, now’s your chance to do something about it.

So if you have a recent picture book you keep recommending to everyone? Or a graphic novel you can’t stop talking about? Or a middle grade book you can’t get out of your head? Nominate them!

Much like most every other industry, publishing has taken a hit these past couple of years. Right now, authors need all the help they can get getting their works in front of the right readers. Who better to nominate and champion them than a cadre of book lovers? Which I assume y’all are if you’re reading this.

Plus, full disclosure: I’m a panelist on the Young Adult Fiction panel this year. So really, I just want a lot of great nominations so I have an excuse to spend all my time reading them.

To nominate a book or see what others are talking about, head to this link and follow the instructions. Hope to see yours there!
