It’s too early to tell if 2021 is on track to be a better year than 2020—after all, the pessimist that occasionally roams through my brain like it’s Grand Central Station suggests things can always get worse. However, there’s maybe one arena where this year will have a hard besting 2020: great new books. Last year, it felt like there was a five-star reading lurking around every corner and, while that might be hard to top, that’s not stopping authors from trying. So for this Top Ten Tuesday, I’m highlighting ten of these releases—all cozy mysteries—that I’m greatly looking forward to.

Happy TTT!

Have to admit I’m not a fan of cozy mysteries but I suspect that’s mostly due to some poor past reading choices. Maybe I’ll venture back at some point. I hope you enjoy.

Books were about the only good thing of 2020! Let’s hope 2021 is at least as good. These look good. The Broken Spine sounds fun and Fried Rice will probably make me hungry!
A Game of Cones 🙂
I like Ellery Adams’ Paperback Parlor mysteries too.

I’m not a big mystery reader but I like an occasional cozy or verging on cozy, especially the bookstore or library ones! I like G.M. Malliet, and Leslie Meier moved to our town from Maine, so I’m trying to catch up on all of her Lucy Stone series.

G.M. Malliet is such a great author, and I’ve enjoyed the few Leslie Meier books I’ve read. And I’m with you: the ones with a bookstore or library backdrop are always great.

I used to read a lot of cozy mysteries when I chose all of my books from the “new books” shelf at my local library. One of the librarians must have been a big fan. But I’ve lost track of them since I rarely wander the stacks any more. (When your library is only open after you get off from work one night per week and all the parking is taken by Scout troop parents attending meetings, that happens). I need to make an effort to start downloading more of them from the digital library. I hope you get to read these soon!

That’s rough not having a library that’s as accessible to your schedule. Public libraries are a major reason I got into reading cozies in the first place. There’s something about those covers that pulled me in! Hopefully you’re able to find a few ebook cozies to get lost in soon.

I’m not a huge mystery reader, so I had never read a cozy mystery until I (accidently) found the Magic and Mystery paranormal series last year. I liked those well enough, so I might try to explore the genre a bit more. I think something like The Broken Spine is exactly what I’d be looking for! I’ll have to check more into some of the others too as several of the covers caught my eye. I hope you enjoy all of these when you’re able to read them!

The Broke Spine definitely sounds like it would be a good fit if you like the Magic and Mystery series. Hopefully you find some other good ones in here, too! I’ve read a few paranormal cozies and always enjoyed them, but oddly, I didn’t find really any new ones coming out this year.

Not going to lie, I’m pretty sure some seeing some of the cozy title puns made me pick them up in the first place. They’re pretty great. Happy reading!

I could not agree with you more! I always toss in a cozy every couple of reads just because they’re so comforting … even with the murder and crime.

That one is perfect! But really, I’m a total sucker for any cozy that uses a pun for a title.

Always interesting to see the TTTs. Since my biggest goal of the year is to read more from my TBR pile, I didn’t participate in this weeks’ TTT but published my Statistics 2020 instead.
It was still interesting to read your list. I’m sure I’ll add a book or two this year anyway. 😉

That’s a great goal to have. Mine is becoming unwieldy so far this year after working to get it down some last year. Oh well, at least we’ll never run out of good books to read, right?

That is a very consoling thought. There is a word for the fear of running out of books, abibliophobia. At least we’ll never have to suffer from that. LOL
