I’ve seen so many great people participating in Top Ten Tuesday that I thought it was time to try it out for myself. It’s a feature hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl, who provides basic instructions each week for creating a bookish list. So if you’re looking to get in on the list-making action, be sure to check out her blog for future prompts as well as links to current participants’ posts.
Today is the perfect time to start because it’s actually a freebie post—so long as it includes book covers in some way.
While there are many styles and types that I love, I’m a total sucker for books that incorporate books on their covers in some capacity. Book-ception, if you will.
So, for my first Top Ten Tuesday, here are ten books that include books on their covers.

A Love Hate Thing
by Whitney D. Grandison

Autoboyography
by Christina Lauren

Brown Girl Dreaming
by Jacqueline Woodson

It’s a Book
by Lane Smith

Stargazing
by Jen Wang

The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek
by Kim Michele Richardson

The Diary of a Bookseller
by Shaun Bythell

The Library of Lost and Found
by Phaedra Patrick

The Thirteenth Tale
by Diane Setterfield

The Uncommon Reader
by Alan Bennett
Ah… book covers with books… really nice.

Coming across a book with a book on the cover is like suddenly making a new friend. “Oh! You like books, too?”

Thank you so much! I loved the theme this week and I’m looking forward to participating more in the future. And yes! Diary of a Bookseller, even with the sort of melancholic blue, is so inviting. Must be the allure of a bookshop.

That’s probably true. As bookish people, it’s hard to pass up a bookshop, even an artistic rendering of one. xD It’s hardcoded in our DNA, I’m sure LOL.

It’s one of my favorites. But then, Diane Setterfield always seems to get amazing covers. Her Once Upon a River is gorgeous.

I have lots of these on my TBR shelf just because of the covers. It’s my weakness! 😅

I know EXACTLY what you mean. I’m trying to be better about it, but sometimes I just cannot resist a good cover.

Oh my goodness, “books about books” is one of my favorite tropes, and I hadn’t even really thought about “books with books” on the cover. Some of these are adorable.

Yes! I love stories that incorporate books in some capacity, too, so this seemed like a natural extension.

Lane Smith is one of my favorite picture book authors/illustrators, and It’s a Book is about as close to perfection as you can get!

Having a freebie certainly helped this week—everyone who participated picked such great topics.

I feel soooo silly. I don’t know that I realized they were standing on a book in Autoboyography. Fun post!

No worries! There are so many covers that no matter how many times I see them, I never notice the details.
