John Robert Allman and Peter Emmerich’s A is for Audra

Just like that, it’s the middle of the week, which means it’s time for Can’t-Wait Wednesday. Every week I spotlight amazing future releases that— well, that I just can’t wait for. It’s a feature hosted by Tressa over at Wishful Endings, so be sure to check out her weekly post to find other participants. Fair warning: don’t be surprised if you come away with an expanded TBR pile.

Today I’m waiting for…

Who doesn’t love a great big Broadway musical? Rich orchestrations. Lavish sets. Stunning costumes. Comedy, tragedy, and everything in between. And there, center stage? A performer who captivates audiences eight shows a week.

And now author John Robert Allman has found a way to introduce some of those performers — the leading ladies of Broadway — to young readers. On top of sleek illustrations from Peter Emmerich, Allman takes readers through the Broadway pantheon with fluid rhymes, from Audra McDonald to Liza with a “Z”.

Bernadette and Patti and Chita, oh my!
