It’s Friday, so that means it’s time for another First Line Friday! Each week, I pluck a book from my shelf and share the first line or so. They might be quotes from my TBR pile or an old favorite or even a book I’m not particularly fond of.
This week’s selection comes from my most recent read.

The third time Shelby Cox hit her head on the low-hanging gargoyle that morning, she was sure the entire castle could hear her yell. Fortunately, it wasn’t yet open to the public.”
Sometimes an opening line hooks me so successfully that I end up reading multiple chapters before I even realize what’s happening. The main character gets to work in a castle with gargoyles? This book had me hook, line, and sinker.
But Shelby doesn’t just work in a castle. No, no! She works in a bookshop in a castle … that also happens to be on an island. I think I’ve found my dream home.
I don’t want to give too much away because my full review will be up tomorrow. However, I just had to share this awesome first line.
And if anyone knows of any remote castle bookshops for sale, let me know.
